Yamada Title

Yeah, I did it everyone, wait, maybe I should wait to cheer when I am at least at episode eleven and not the second episode. Sure writing this means I actually was able to write or at least start writing the second episode review and since this is the first series I am doing it this is a little bit of an accomplishment. That and I really wanted to do something here before start diving into what the plot for this episode was. So without further ado, time to get started.

The Plot:

This episode begins where the first left off with a new girl showing up wanting to join the Supernatural Studies Club. The girl is Miyabi Ito, and she really likes the supernatural. She wants to join. She even tries to prove that she can bend a spoon with her mind, which ultimately results in her bending the spoon with her own strength.

Eventually after just joining she runs off only to come back with a lot of cleaning supplies. While she cleans the club room she tasks Yamada with taking out the trash as well as a few other things. This is when Yamada finds out he has to take a Supplementary Test which makes him need to switch with Shiraishi. Of course doing this is proven difficult with Ito showing up constantly asking Yamada to get something for her to clean the room with.

When Yamada hears about this, and freaks out naturally he goes to check on Shirashi to see if she is alright. She is back to being alone, which annoys him. Because of this he goes to confront Ito into the club room. When this happens and Ito decides not to tell everyone that she lied and spread the rumor. Yamada kisses her to switch bodies only to quickly knock her out.

Since she caught them and did not like what she saw she went into getting revenge. For starters she does not know the fact that Yamada has the ability to switch bodies. So she spreads the rumor that Yamada and Shirashi are an item.

Yamada, for starters now in a new girl’s body starts by checking her out. He then focuses at the problem at hand and goes around telling people who it was a lie. After telling people he gets the similar response that no one believed the rumor to begin with. Ultimately he is told that no one ever believes Ito’s rumors.

After this happens and Yamada contemplates if it was even worth it to switch bodies, he gets to the club room only to find out his body is not there. To top it off Ito goes around school doing random things like superhero possess and shouting final attack names. It is later revealed that she went to go and confront the people who scammed her out of money for some supernatural artifacts.

Yamada makes it to the scene only to see Ito, in Yamada’s body, beaten up. Yamada beats up the scam artists and the two go back to the clubroom. Ito goes to leave only Yamada tells her she has to be part of the club since she knows the secret of switching bodies.

With that testing the powers goes into effect. From the bodies get switched left and right to see exactly what can happen and how many times it can happen. (These type of scenes are where a lot of comedic events happen later in the series)

The episode ends with the Student Council President wanting to keep an eye on the Supernatural Studies Club believing something is up with them.

The Characters:

Miyabi Ito: She is obsessed with the supernatural. At the same time the episode showed that she may be a little into BL. Anyway she is really obsessed with the supernatural.

My Thoughts:

Overall I really enjoyed this episode. It was good at character building at all four of the characters since they all play a role throughout the series, although again I have only read the first forty or so chapters and as soon as I am caught up with Nisekoi this is on my list. Anyway, I am not really sure how many chapters were covered in this episode, but overall it did not feel like it was a lot and even then it was well-balanced.

Important Plot Points:

– Ito joins the club

– Yamada practices his ability

– The second Witch is seen, but as for what the witches are has yet to be touched upon

– The Student Council President is seen wanting to keep an eye on them

Final Words:

As I said this episode did well expanding on the character development. Last episode was more of Shirashi and Yamada, this time was Ito and Yamada, which is important since she is a constant minor character. At the same time it did not feel like they were really rushing compared to the previous episode. At this point I will not that there is a drama based off this series, and although I never watched a drama before I may check it out and give my thoughts on a future review for this.

Overall Score: 85/100 (It still feels like there is room to improve, but the character development and not feeling rushed made it better this week)

What did you think of this episode?

If you like what you read feel free to follow. Although I am not taking suggestions on what to do for weekly reviews, suggestions on how they are set up would be appreciated.  I am also taking suggestions for other things as well, which can be made on their own pages or to me through twitter.
