Right now you are probably thinking, “Joe you said you were doing Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle First impressions.” Then well, I am not doing that. Here are the reasons why:
I know I said it sounds like an Infinite Stratos with that overused boring harem plot of one boy at an all-girls school. It was more than that. Between that, the fact that even the armor looked and reminded me of Infinite Stratos, I decided not to even watch it. I know I said I would watch the first ep to know how generic it is, it was so generic that I did not even feel like watching it, yet anyway. So instead of beating around the bushes let me do something else.
It was alright. A lot of people seem to either love it or hate it. I personally feel in between. It was interesting. Some of it reminded me of Eupho, which in the first I did not like it. However after a few episodes, well it was episode 8 where it really got buzz. Do I think this show will be also, no.
This show the first episode really did not grab me. The ending though, that caught me off guard and well was really good and I am glad it caught me off guard. Now was this enough to make me continue, not for right now.
Much like Eupho I am not personally into that show. I think I am going to do the same, although last time it was on accident, this time it is on purpose. Since Nick is reviewing the show and I am the editor over at AnimeCorps, I read the reviews. So naturally I will know what happens both through blogging and whatever people say about it on Twitter and other sites that I browse. I think I am going to wait till maybe episode five the latest to give it a shot if there is positive buzz about it. The only reason I say this is because of how the first episode ended and it could easily be changed to admire and look up to instead of love.
The show was decent, but this is one show that I am going to wait on for a few weeks.
Personal Enjoyment 5/10
What Else I watched:
Snow White with the Red Hair Season 2
This is up there for my favorite Shojo series, right next to Kami-sama Kiss. The night before the episode I watched the last two episodes of season 1. The episode was just as good and I just cannot wait for the rest of the season.
Gate Season 2
Not enough Rory, Elf-chan, and Mahou-chan. Poor Bunny-chan. Also Pina Colada’s brother is the scum of the universe. Still alright of an episode though. Next week will hopefully pick up. Season one did take a few episodes, but this one continued right after. So I am a little worried about how it will end. The series is long, so I have no idea where it is going to end, since the series has 16 volumes, and if I had to guess only like 6 might get covered total for both seasons.
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
This was boring. Another game reality thing. I did like how they all have amnesia and yet still say some things from the world they are from. Although the first episode was super boring, so I am giving it just one more episode. Sorceress-chan is cute though. Same for the hunter as well.
AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue
It was interesting. I do like the concept. The episode was fairly slow paced, but I could see myself enjoying it. I will still give it a few episodes. But it sounds like it could be a lot of fun over time, maybe not the first few episodes, but later on definitely.
Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation
So, about 15 minutes before this post goes up after scheduling it for several hours. I decided to check this show out, for the first two episodes, and then write about it. I will not lie and say I checked it out because a cute blonde and that little birdy. Also starting to question why I like blonde anime characters so much. But my thoughts on the show are that I kind of enjoyed it. Episode 2 was a lot more enjoyable. I do like the fact it is not doing the generic, stuck in a video game, or having the character be the main character in the video game, as far as I can tell. It is people playing the video games, so it is kind of interesting for the direction they are going. This could go poorly, I do not know if how it could go. I do find it funny how the anime is licensed for the US, but the game never made it over. Anyway, I think I might stick with this one.
I think I covered everything I watched this season. There were a few shows that I would have liked to, but were not licensed for streaming. Other shows I was thinking about watching I either did not bother or have yet to get to. Erased being the major one that I have yet to get to yet that I want to. Mahoutsukai Precure! has not started, but I will watch.
What shows have you watched this season that you enjoyed? Which ones have you enjoyed the most with the first episode?
Well, that is it for shows that I will check out. Come February, probably around the time when shows are on their 6th episode, is when I will be doing mid season impressions.
As always I hope you enjoyed. If you have any thoughts, ideas, or anything you would like to see here feel free to comment. If that does not work try to contact me through social media.
