Well, as is tradition it is that time of year again where I do 12 Days of looking back on anime throughout the year. This year is different, being the blog’s 5 Year Anniversary, a means to celebrate I decided to make it 12 Days of Top 5s instead. I will also be looking at more than just anime too. While it is the end of a decade, I was thinking of doing anime that was in the last 10 years, however, I decided to shorten it to focus on stuff in the last 5 years. The posts in this series will relate to the blog, things in the last year, and things in the last 5 years. So, a lot of work has gone into these posts. I will probably keep this intro throughout all of them. Either way I hope you enjoy.

So, I know I made it known that I am into Yugioh. This year ended Yugioh Vrains, the first in the franchise that I have seen since the original to completion. I enjoyed it a lot, and it was a rather interesting series, despite its hiccups. Still, it ended this year. Either way, it was the show that got me back into the card game, so I figured I might as well talk about some of my favorite Archetypes in the game for decks I like to use.

Number 5: Dark Magician

The OG deck. That is one of the main reasons why I do enjoy this deck. It was the first one I had. Coming back to it after all this time with all the different types of summons and whatnot, Dark Magician got a lot more support cards compared to back in the day. With all the easy and fast ways to get out the ace monster, and how easy it can be to pull off some combos, I do rather enjoy it. Unlike some of the other decks, this one I tend to find myself using a lot of spell cards, and out of all of them, this one is not my favorite in terms of playstyle. Still, when done correctly the Dark Magician deck can be fun to use. Also I always liked Dark Magician Girl.

Number 4: Six Samurai

I do like these cards, and it is closer to what I like in decks. With the introduction to Link Monsters, it is easy to get out some of the spell cards and going with the right combo, well, you can get out some of them several times in the same turn because they are special summoned so easily, to get out multiple big monsters. Of course, it can be tricky, but, despite sometimes being made or broken with just one spell card, I still enjoy using this deck a lot.

Number 3: Code Talkers

The Archetype of Vrains, which is sort of the reason why I like it. The other being how easy it is to Link Summon, which currently is required to do virtually any type of summons. I am not really into Link Summoning, still, I do enjoy this deck, which is all and only about Link Summoning all the big monsters, multiple that power up one another. It makes it really fun, the downside is it can sometimes rely on certain spells and if those aren’t out you can be screwed over easily. But, still, even if the spell is gone, link summoning can still be done several times over in a turn.

Number 2: Heroes

I always loved Elemental Hero. I recently enjoyed Neos just as much, and even more recently I loved the combination of using the Elemental Heroes, Vision Heroes, Destiny Heroes, and even Evil Heroes, in one deck. When using the right ones, they can be even stronger together.  Despite only watching some of GX when I was younger, I enjoyed the cards from it way more than in the original series. I loved seeing the fusions for all the hero cards. And it is one reason why I love these cards today. Only more so now having all these heroes combine their power. It is like the Avengers Assembling in End Game only in card form. Even if they are not the strongest or even a Meta deck, I have always had fun using these cards.

Number 1: Vampire

This is tied with Heroes. But I honestly like it more because it suits my playstyle more. While you can deal a lot of damage to yourself, you can heal a lot of that damage back before dealing a lot of damage to your opponent. I just love the combination with the cards, the effects, and everything else. I always enjoyed using the on Duel Links, and even more with all the new cards that are out. Of the types of decks, I mentioned this is honestly one I would love to have in real life, even if I couldn’t use it against anyone, I still love the deck.

What are some memories you have from Yugioh, or just any old card game?
