Top Five Over Hyped Anime

Well, where to begin. I know it feels like a lot of people will be upset with the anime I may talk about, and personally I am a little alright with that. I only say that because everyone has their own opinion. I am sure I would disagree with some people’s opinion on these, if they were to make a list. But overall remember this is for fun. It would be nice to see who agrees and who disagrees with this list. Personally as always I would love to hear a few anime you think are over hyped.

Due to the nature of labeling Anime as Over Hyped I am only doing ones that I have seen. I will also mention if it deserves the hype or not. Because sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. Either way without further ado, let’s get started.

The Best of 2014 Part 2

part 2

This is a continuation of Part 1

Summer Season

Well, I am just going to start hitting hard and some of the best shows came out that summer, the return of SAO and Sailor Moon. As a child I never saw Sailor Moon, so far when it came to Crystal, well it has been enjoyable. What was always so interesting was Akame ga Kill, especially once it was reaching the finally with it finally making me enjoy it once more, only as an anime series.

But it was not all about the hard actions of shows that had source material in terms of action. Aldnoah Zero more than likely gave the biggest twist in the finally which makes me excited for season two, as well as very worried. Since it is a series by the person who created Psycho Pass, well season two is bad.

Like in the spring season with Bryhildr in the Darkness, Tokyo Ghoul decided to speed up when it came out with a short season with as much episodes as they could get into it. Although it was still mixed in some cases where people either enjoyed it or hated it. Unfortunately this was one show that I dropped unintentionally.

Comedies also where making a rise with Locodol, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki kun, and Sabagebu! for some of the funniest series this year, with something to laugh about each time. Some episodes where funnier than others, but that goes without saying. In all honesty for comedies Sabagebu and Monthly are close to the top. However Invaders of the Rokujouma?! is near the top when it comes to shows that came out a lot better than one would originally thought of.

Then there was Fate.Kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei! To help get pumped for the new Fate Stay Night. Although the magical girl fan service like series is easily pale in comparison, it still helped prepare oneself in what we knew would defiantly do a one eighty once the new series comes out. Yet there was a few that fell apart or thought would be better or were slowly forgotten to watch.

Fall Season

Well, soon the year entered the final part. It soon became one of the most watched season for me with a lot of series. Some I had held in high hopes. Psycho Pass 2 I unintentionally dropped before it went terrible. I still want to see it, but a part of me does not knowing the fact it gets worse. Trinity Seven was another, sort of. They covered a lot of stuff, and shoved at least two to three chapters an episode, which considering each chapter is only forty pages, it is a lot. I would focus on other series that I had high hopes for, but I fell in love with the manga for Trinity Seven and read nearly it all within two days. I was sort of satisfied with it, yet sort of not. The art was indeed amazing though.

Yet there were plenty that went beyond their expectations after the first few episodes, Cross Ange. At first it looked like it was just going to be fan service filled, it just took a little while before that soon disappeared and actually started to get good to watch and continue to get good.

There is a lot to cover, so much to cover for this season, since some will continue into the winter season. Parasyte has been staying a steady pass. Even coming into shows later, like Celestial Method and Yona of the Dawn made it well worth it, at least for now. There was plenty others. Including a surprise to know later, that Yuki Yuna  wa Yusha de Aru being an excellent late starter in the season and also being from the creator of Akame ga Kill.

Hopes for 2015

Well, Akame ga Kill was announced to go into the final arc soon. I have a feeling it will wrap up around chapter seventy or so, currently it is at fifty five. Hopefully it will be another year. Fairy Tail feels like it is nearing the end soon, but I could be wrong. It feels like it has at least two to three major story arcs left after the current one. The Date A Live film will be original works, even though the subs will probably not be out until 2016. Then there are more series that I am looking forward to. There is also the anime adaptation of Yamada and the Seven Witches, which I am looking forward too, providing they do not try to cover too much.

Hopefully an anime adaptation of UQ Holder will be announced in 2015. Really a lot of shows I hope get another season at some point or another as well. Heavy Object has an anime in the works, which is based off the work from the creator of a Certain Magical Index. More news on the 2016 season of Attack on Titan would be good. It also goes without saying that there will be more Bakemonogatari since the entire series has been green lit for anime form.

There are a countless number of things that can come out next year, be announced or just be a lot better than I originally thought after watching it. It will all start with the winter season once more. With that said, here is to another year passing with hopes for the future.

The Best of 2014 Part 1

part 1

In this part I will be discussing news, anime, and manga sort of information that happened throughout the year. However in this part it will only be what happened through January all the way to the end of June. So my main focus will be on the winter and spring anime seasons.

The Winter Season

The winter season I have viewed a little weird. I only really started watching a lot of anime the spring of the previous year on a season basis, although I watched very few shows that previous winter season, so this was really the first. I find it odd mostly because you are dealing with the shows that began to air in the fall as they enter their second half before reaching their climax. There is nothing wrong with that.

The shows that really stuck out to me during that time that finished were Kill la Kill, Golden Time, Strike the Blood, Tokyo Ravens, and Samurai Flamenco. Kill la Kill stayed solid all the way through. Golden Time was always a bit rocky, when it came to the relationship; I do not mean to make it sound like the show was bad, far from it. Strike the Blood and Tokyo Ravens, although a little generic, still managed to be the shows that I would look forward to on a weekly basis.  Then there was Samurai Flamenco, I can get the fact that it was a parody of the superhero genre, but how it started did not make it feel that way. To me it just continued to go down a slope and was not stopping to make it worse and worse. I had hopes that it would get better, but to me it did not. It made its way to one of the shows I regret watching. At the same time it was the starting episodes that are really enjoyable, and wish the show just stopped after the second arc.

The Fall seasons leftovers continued on until they finished. At the same time new life was brought in the Winter line-up. Some brought out new energy, while others seemed to be as dull as the winter sky. With that first day of January it brought the announcement of Sword Art Online 2.

One of my favorite comedies second season began, Seitokai Yakuindomo, which brought the laughs on a weekly basis just as much as the newbies like D-Frag and Robot Girls Z. Others on the other hand, even with the comedy still brought forth a decent amount of action like Witchcraft Works and World Conquest Zvezda Plot.

There were far and few that were good that I wish I continued like Nisekoi and Noragami, but unfortunately I forgot about them, despite their decent stories. Then there were some in general that revolutionized how anime runs, having a dub before the sub like Space Dandy, was a mistake in missing.

Then there was one, Buddy Complex, the first mecha series I watched. Although I saw Code Geass, this was the one that got me into the mecha genre as a whole. Without that I never would have seen shows later that year like Captain Earth or the amazing Adnoah Zero.

There was also a plentiful amount of news as well, that made fans just giddy with excitement, the announcement for the Fate Stay Night remake as well as Akame ga Kill anime as well as many others as time passed on.

There were plenty more shows out there, some I saw, and some I forgot despite wanting to see. Some are forgettable, but there others that you wish you never forgot.

The Spring Season

The Spring season soon came with a complete batch of new shows and some old favorites, at least for myself, Date A Live 2 as well as Fairy Tail. Then some gave me a new favorite in terms of manga, Byrhilder in the Darkness, which the only flaw in the anime is that they try to shove a hundred chapters, thirty seven of which in the final two episodes, in the span of just thirteen episodes.

The Irregular at Magic High School came with a dull beginning, despite its original hype, and was easily dropped despite it being interesting. The same came for Black Bullet which also seemed a bit unsatisfying come the finally. The World is Still Beautiful and One Week Friends filled the void that Golden Time left me. The shocking Selector Infected WIXOSS, came and soon ended the first season. I might not have finished the show until well after it finished, but it is up there competing for one of the best originals this year. But who would have thought that Kanjo ga Flag o Oraretara’s main enemy would be a boat, sorry for that spoiler.

There was the resurrection of fans from Soul Eater getting the spin-off of Soul Eater Not! There were a few here and there that were surprisingly good, despite what one would first entail, No Game No Life and Chaika The Coffin Princess, both setting new spins on the fantasy genre in different ways. There is also the fact that the two can be some of the most unforgettable this year as well.

Despite the lovers of Bakemonogatari getting the news that the five new episodes getting moved several months there was still the majorly popular Mekakucity Actors. With the same director, more talking, and actually more action then one would expect, it was a highlight of this year when it came to shows about talking.

There was plenty more from the return of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures, The File of Young Kindaichi Returns, and Mushi-shi. The spring defiantly left its mark when it came to returning old classics with new life. It was an excellent start to continue the year.

This Article will continue in Part Two on December 27.

The List

This is not being updated anymore, you can find the complete list here on MAL.

This is about ninety percent of shows that I have seen. Some I did not put on the list, kind of feel a little embarrassed for watching them, so they are not here for that reason. I think I only removed about ten or so, at most. Although I have a bit of a backlog, I kind of watch series that I just feel like watching, even if they were not on that backlog. So if someone recommends me something I might consider it. This is also not the list in order of series I watched, it was whatever I remembered at the time.
