Winter Pre-Season Impressions 2016

Yeah, it is that time again. This time I will hopefully go back to my mid-season impressions as a whole rather than the end. I like that, there is still room to do things. But I do not know, maybe I will go with final impressions again. Even though the post is not out yet. I will say I do like how I had last season’s post set up for the individual impressions that I do, so I will keep up with that way for writing them. So, before I begin I am reviewing not one but two different shows this season, however, with a twist.

Weekly reviews, although I thought I was against it, but I am changing them to be similar, only less formal, as series reviews. Similar set up and probably a little more focus on plot and goofy things.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!

This is the show I am reviewing. Currently there is no English name for it. Most shows have not been announced for licensing yet. I assume Crunchyroll will pick up and Sentai Filmworks will license, this seems like something they would pick up. It is based off a light novel series. I read some of the manga adaptation and found it funny. Once I learned this series was announced for January way back in September I knew I would review it. It is a fantasy comedy. So, hopefully it is enjoyable.

I will say this, the show comes out on Wednesdays. This is a problem with my school schedule. My classes are from 11 am to 5 pm, so I will not be home until 6 pm, since school is an hour away because traffic. So, Top Fives and The Favs are being moved to Mondays. I will be dead inside with being in class for 6 hours straight and probably swamped with homework once I get home on Wednesdays so the review instead of being up the following day of airing, will be out on Fridays.

Luck & Logic

Alright this is the other series I am reviewing. However, this will be on Anime Corps. My thoughts on this show can be found here. That I hope I will have reviewed by the following day of airing since it is out on Fridays. It should be fun since this would be the first series I am weekly reviewing with no information on the source material.

Impressions:

This season I am only going to focus on three. This is mostly due to the fact that there is not a lot that actually catches my eye. As usual these will be out a few days after the airing in order to briefly talk about other shows that aired that I have seen. Shows which are as followed:

Macross Delta

The reason for this show is due to the fact it combines idols and mecha series, so it sounds interesting. After talking to someone who has watched Macross, it sounds like although all shows are self-contained, they exist in the same universe. Much like Gundam, which I am rather enjoying now, I hope that watching this show will get me into other series in this franchise.

Myraid Colors Phantom World

This is among the shows that I have seen previews for. The plot does sound interesting, sort of like super natural battles and stuff like that. I am a little confused though, since at least on Wikipedia, it only had one volume of the light novels, but MAL says it is ongoing. Either way this is a series based on light novels. It looks interesting, but it really depends how the first few episodes, like all series are.

Shortly after posting this it has come to my attention that the anime, Macross Delta, might not be airing in January, but a teaser for it is. Because of this, if this is the cause, I will be doing a first impression of Dimension W.

Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle

This was another series I was thinking of reviewing. I decided Luck and Logic, although an original series was a safer choice. This one has the super generic and way to overused since Infinite Stratos, of a single male at an all-girls school harem plot. So, I think this one is safe to assume that after the first episode it will be predictable and really depends how the first episode is before much can be said. Will it be super generic, or will it be a pleasant surprise like last season’s Asterisk Wars and Anti Magic Academy?

Other shows I am Checking out:

  • Snow White with the Red Hair Season 2
  • Gate Second Season
  • Hai to Gensou no Grimagar (AKA looks like DanMachi)
  • Dagashi Kashi
  • Boku dake ga Inai Machi
  • Divine Gate
  • Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm
  • Dimension W
  • Active Raid: Kidou Kyoushuushutsy Dau Hakkei
  • Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu (Wannabe Saekano)
  • Phantasy Star Online 2
  • Bubuki Buranki
  • Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage
  • Koukaku no Pandora
  • Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R
  • Mahoutsukai Precure! (Will not be on any of the impression posts due to not starting till Feb)

Italicized ones are the uncertain ones to watch.

Also for the record, I as always say I am not watching a lot, when the opposite is true. Some on this list just by reading the synopsis I am a little up in the air about. Others not so much. Last season I did have shows on the like that I did not even watch or even watch pass the first episode. I will not be surprised if the list goes from the 20 or so on here down to almost ten.

What are you thinking of watching this Winter?
