At some point watching this episode I got to thinking about if this season would cover to the end of the manga, the manga, for those of you who didn’t know, ended a little over a year ago. Now, judging by the amount of content that is left, I honestly think it will be possible. Either way, this episode is just another stepping stone for Mob to overcome.

The Plot:

Continuing where the last episode left off, the world Mob is in is filled with well, a somewhat accurate representation of his real world without powers. Even his own brother doesn’t recognize him. Anything he associates with his powers are gone. While this world is dark and gloomy, and filled with people picking on Mob, he does not acknowledge the world is fake.

In the real world, Dimple and Reigen are still waiting for Mob’s return. Dimple thinks Mob is lost and would like to leave, however Reigen wants to stay faithful and wait for Mob, thus causing Dimple to wait as well.

Back to Mob, six months have passed in the mental world. Things are not going his way as he falls closer to despair. Mogami’s brainwashing is certainly taking a toll on Mob. It does give a bit more of his backstory. He started to kill to get money for his mom, however after his mom died it turned into an evil spirit, which in turn made him want to be an evil spirit to use his powers for himself and not others like he did in life.

Anyway, in the real world, Reigen still not wanting to leave Mob due to the trust he has in them forces Dimple to take action and try to save Mob. He has trouble breaking through at first, but luckily the old enemy from Claw helps a bit to allow Dimple though.

Dimple quickly wakes Mob up. Mob, now brought back to his senses, realizes he is honestly blessed and thankful to everyone for what they did. He was able to change, and now realizes that, he is stronger, and happy, and so much more thanks to those around him.

Thus, he goes to 100 percent with his positive attitude and desire to use his powers to help people and have them be useful that way. Which honestly turned him into a more Bishonen figure. Either way, he does have a little trouble, but still beats Mogami.

However, all the spirits Mogami possessed, are free and with how negative they are slowly starting to overwhelm Mob. It is then the ???? form appears and well, the fight soon ends.

Upon waking up, Mogami is quickly captured by the former Claw member. Mob talks to Minori, who well, she honestly acted like her normal self in the other world, Mob still forgives her as she apologizes. She wishes to be a better person after Mob tells her it is possible with all the people he has supporting him.

The episode ends with Minori joining Mob’s cult with a rather large donation.

Overall Thoughts:

Now, let me start by saying how last episode I did not give it a score, since honestly, it would be better to judge the previous episode and this one together. Honestly both were great and this one gave a great way to conclude from last time. It had a proper build up, conclusion, as well as showing how much Mob has changed and is still willing to change as a person.

His growth the past two episodes granted in this one was spent trying to force Mob to not change the positive way he has but regress. Being snapped back to realize how he is thankful for what has been going on, he really has changed a lot. He is now affecting those around him, which to this point, he hasn’t really done. This can be seen with Minori. Sure, he did change Reigen since they first met, but even Dimple is starting to show signs of change as well, Mob is affecting more people around him as they affect him. It was a nice way they turned this into the overall message this episode that it is never too late to change who you are, and the people that are there for you can help you change. It is a journey that is harder to do alone, and Mob being the one to say that his change was only possible thanks to support from others certainly shows how far he has come given the fact at the start he hardly had anyone’s support which is very different compared to now. It was that time in the other world that made this realization possible for him, and certainly it will play a role in how he continues to change.

This episode, as I said, was a good follow-up, it might not have set up future events in the series, but, it certainly did what Mob Psycho’s theme has been and showing Mob’s growth and his changes.

Overall Score (Last 2 Episodes): B+
